String Orchestra

I had a positive experience with my first string orchestra piece, so I decided I would try it again. Subtle Contrasts is a large, spacial piece for a full string orchestra. The brooding and grave melody in G minor is haunting the listener, popping up several times while eighth notes transcend and loop over the theme. The piece breaks into a cheerfully nostalgic section in the parallel major key, ending with a cello cadenza. The minor theme is stated once again, and the basses playing a descending scale bring the piece to a close.
